Ukraine is studying the integration of airbikes (flying motorcycles) and airbuggies into its Armed Forces to speed up the transport of troops to forward positions on the battlefield.
The initiative was presented by Andrii Hrytseniuk, director of the military innovation platform Brave1, during a briefing covered by the Militarnyi news portal. The development of the projects may receive funding through the organization’s own support programs.
According to Hrytseniuk, the goal is to reduce the vulnerability of troops while moving toward the front line. At present, both foot movement and transport in armored vehicles can be detected relatively easily. The new aerial platforms would provide a faster and more difficult-to-detect alternative.
“This capability would support a wide range of missions—from the rapid insertion of personnel into positions and troop deployment to more specialized applications during special operations,” he said during the briefing, according to Militarnyi.

The concepts under evaluation include optionally unmanned versions. In this scenario, the aircraft could drop off soldiers at the insertion point and automatically return to base, allowing it to be reused for other missions. In addition to rapid troop insertion, the vehicles could also be employed in special operations.
The proposal follows the advancement of similar technologies in other countries. Among the examples cited are the Airbike developed by the Polish company Volonaut, equipped with jet engines and capable of speeds of up to 200 km/h (124 mph), and the Jetson ONE, developed in Sweden as an electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft for personal use.
